Given the wild weather last weekend, it was no surprise that Tayport’s Superleague fixture at Forfar West End fell victim to the conditions.

Next up for ‘Port is a DJ Laing East Region Cup tie at home to Scone Thistle.

Recent form suggests that Chris Macpherson’s men have a chance of making a run to the latter stages of the competition and they will be favourites to see off Scone this Saturday.

That said, the two league meetings between the sides have resulted in one win apiece.

Scone took the points from the Canniepairt fixture early in the season, coming from behind to grab the points.

More recently, Tayport won 2-1 in Perthshire, despite playing for a large chunk of the match with ten men, after Jamie Mackie’s red card.

Tayport have reached this stage of the competition, thanks to victories over Brechin Vics and Armadale Thistle.

Vics were beaten 3-0 on the Canniepairt, but the game against Armadale was much more dramatic.

Thistle led 2-1 at the break. ‘Port came back, to lead 4-2, but the hosts drew level. With penalty kicks looming, Dayle Robertson netted a winner.

Kick-off is 2.30pm.
