“I wanted to do some exercise too so I started walking with a couple of girls from the class. Then I decided that I wanted to set myself a challenge.”
Wendy, an NHS diabetes specialist podiatrist, took part in last year’s Moonwalk and said it was “an amazing experience and a sense of achievement”.
She added: “I did the ‘Full Moon’ – 26.2 miles – and I did it all by myself, but I had so much fun last year and met people that I now hold as dear friends.”

“It’s affected both sides of my family,” she said. “We had a huge shock a few years ago when both my nieces were battling it at the same time.
“So I want to give something back and raise money for different cancer charities.”
Wendy is also selling cupcakes at work for £1 as well as taking part in the Moonwalk and hopes to raise £500.
