Kirkcaldy man Paul Farquhar appeared before Sheriff Alison McKay at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court.

Farquhar, 58, of Redcraigs, admitted that on July 3 this year at his home address he did, for the purpose of causing annoyance, inconvenience or needless anxiety to the emergency services, persistently make use of a public electronic communications network in that he repeatedly and unneccessarily telephoned 999.

The court heard the accused had suffered from depression following the death of his mother who he had been living with and that he had avoided court most of his adult life.

It also heard there had been no repetition of the matter.

The Procurator Fiscal Depute told the court he had called police 25 times saying he was in a low mood. She said his pattern of behaviour was something to be addressed to ensure police time wasn’t wasted.

Sheriff McKay called for a criminal justice social work report and deferred sentence until November 26.
